I grew up in Portland, Maine and fell in love with learning about different cultures at an early age. I switched from a small Catholic elementary school to a very diverse middle school and made friends from different parts of the world. My upbringing taught me to treat others how you want to be treated. I try to bring that attitude with me everywhere I go.
At Norwich University, I studied a wide range of courses from secondary education to history, English and Spanish. I was able to work in schools during my years there as a teacher aide in the local high school and middle school. I was also a senior captain on the lacrosse team there. If there is one thing that I can take away from my time at Norwich, it is that if you want to succeed you have to fall in love with the process of getting better. Whether it is writing, reading or shooting a lacrosse ball, it takes the process of getting better to achieve your goals.
In the Summer of 2016 I started as an intern recruiter with the Maine Migrant Education Program. Learning about the different migrant families we serve was a very eye opening experience; I had no idea this work was even happening in my own backyard in Maine. I am grateful to be in a position where I can connect these families with the services they need.
